EPA approval opens up large market for green tech firm - Bluon Energy

Bluon Energy LLC has been authorized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to sell its TdX 20 refrigerant for use in retail food refrigeration.


Bluon Energy is revolutionizing the refrigerant industry with the introduction of TdX 20, an R-22, R-404A and 507A replacement that upgrades the performance of existing HVAC and refrigeration equipment, reduces energy consumption by 5- 25%, and is an environmentally safe, sustainable solution. TdX 20 has been authorized for sale and import in the U.S. by the EPA under SNAP and has the prelimary ASHRAE number of R-458A. Headquartered in McClellan Park, CA, Bluon has installed TdX 20 with customers such as Equity Office Properties, Able Engineering, CBRE, and Kaiser Permanente.

Bluon Energy was founded in 2011 to create an R-22 replacement refrigerant that increases energy efficiency and extends the life of existing HVAC-R equipment. TdX 20 was developed empirically and iteratively with hundreds of formulas field tested to allow Bluon to create a unique energy efficient product from the ground up.  Bluon TdX 20 is now also known by its internationally recognized ASHRAE designation R-458A.  In order to ensure efficiency is maximized with TdX 20 installations, Bluon mandates training for their affiliated mechanical contractors where they teach the Bluon Mindset, where tuning and optimization are the focus.
